About C.A.R.L.

To learn more about us, including how to foster, adopt, or volunteer, visit the main Canine Adoption and Rescue League website.

Just what is C.A.R.L., anyway? Canine Adoption and Rescue League is Ventura County’s largest all-breed, no-kill, non-profit dog rescue and sanctuary. Since 1996, we’ve placed thousands of dogs into loving forever homes. We turn away no dog based on breed or age. Our creed is “Every Dog Deserves a Second Chance”.

The Pooch Parade is our biggest fundraiser of the year. By enjoying a sunny day on the beach with food, sun, and dogs (so many dogs!), the people of Ventura County allow us to keep saving lives.

Canine Adoption and Rescue League (C.A.R.L.) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit all breed, no-kill dog rescue and adoption organization. Since 1996, C.A.R.L. has rescued and placed thousands of unwanted, sick, abandoned, and homeless dogs. Dogs in our adoption program are placed in pre-screened, loving and secure homes. We make a lifetime commitment to all of our dogs.

C.A.R.L. is located in Ventura County, California and primarily serves Ventura County dogs. Because of our lifetime commitment to our dogs we have a preference to place dogs locally so we are available to them if needed. We rely on donations and do not receive government, state, or city funding. We operate almost entirely by volunteers

Mission Statement

Canine Adoption and Rescue League’s mission is to advocate for animal welfare, seeking to end the needless deaths of companion animals through our adoption, education, and outreach programs.
